Job Summary

The Dean of Educational Programs has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, providing supervision, planning, and evaluation for the Division's instructional departments and programs. This is a full-time position that reports to LSCPA's Educational Programs Department.

Duties/Responsibilities

Supervise department chairs and program coordinators in program planning and curriculum revision, employee selection, employee evaluation, delivery of services, and special projects.

Ensure all new faculty meet credentialing standards.

Supervise strategic planning and budgeting for educational programs; approve budget expenditures and payments.

Develop, revise and assess educational programs in response to workplace trends and requirements.

Update core curriculum and technical programs using THECB portals.

Develop and submit the Perkins Basic Grant application annually; supervise the implementation of the grant; supervise Perkins grant funded employees; supervise the implementation of the grant; and approve grant expenditures.

Stay informed of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) requirements and ensure compliance.

Assist college leaders in the preparation of reports/documents related to SACSCOC and the THECB.

Coordinate and analyze data related to labor market trends and workforce needs to inform program development.

Work to ensure educational programs adhere to program-specific accreditation standards.

Supervise and support the Director of Correctional Education to establish and manage educational programs at prison sites.

Supervise and support the Director of Dual Enrollment to establish and manage dual enrollment courses and the Early College High Schools.

Oversee the publication of the Class Schedule, Catalog, Faculty Handbook, Faculty Credentialing Manual, and other print materials for educational programs.

Coordinate and collaborate with offices and staff to support admissions, registration, financial aid, and student success.

Coordinate and collaborate with offices and staff to support faculty recruiting, faculty development, program and course assessment and all aspects of quality instruction.

Mediate student and faculty grievances.

Serve on college committees and attend community and campus cultural events.

Meet with program advisory committees.

Comply with campus policies and procedures.

Other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of full-time work experience in a technical field and/or work experience outside of an educational setting
  • Progression through several job levels is desirable. Fours (4) years of experience in positions leading to this job
  • Relevant experience in college teaching, program assessment and evaluation, curriculum management and program development

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of administration and management; accounting principles; education; personnel management and development; human resources; customer service
  • Skills using Student Information System software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other software used on college campuses
  • Skills must include managing financial resources; critical thinking; information gathering/organization; instruction; written and oral communication; time management; judgment and decision making
  • Skills to manage and develop employees
Supplemental Information

Physical Requirements:

This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine. Travel:
Frequent travel.

Work Hours:

Monday – Friday; 40 hours per week, some weekends as needed.
