Job Summary
The Wagner-Peyser Coordinator has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, assisting students in enrolling in appropriate training programs. This position is also responsible for assisting with admissions processes, collecting student success data, collecting follow-up employment, and assisting students in securing post-graduation employment. This is a full-time, two (2) year, grant funded position, that reports to the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education Department.
Duties/Responsibilities- Interview and assess students for participation in grant related training
- Refer potential students to the Texas Workforce Commission when interest fail to match the training program
- Refer students to other training programs as needed, including ESL, GED, and supplemental training skills training
- Monitor student performance and provide monthly updates to representing agencies
- Interact with students throughout training periods
- Familiarize graduating students with job opportunities in their respective training fields and assist with job interviews
- Work closely with partners and area employers to assess the need of skills for which students are trained
- Monitor student progress, retention, and outcomes; implement interventions to support student success
- Monitor student employment following graduation
- Collect data regarding admissions, completions, and employment and submit reports as required
- Comply with campus policies and procedures
- Other related duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General office experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Ellucian Banner
- Customer service experience
- Experience in project and office management
- Experience working at a two-year college
Physical Requirements: This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine. Social Requirements: This position is student facing and requires extensive social contact. Employees must be prepared to work closely with students, work closely with employers (both in person and by phone), be active in job fairs and recruiting fairs, and to present program related materials in public venues.
