The CSU Environmental Lead ensures the Project meets all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, during the CSU and Initial Operations Phase. This is done by executing compliance programs, conducting audits, coordinating sampling efforts and managing corrective actions.
Major Responsibilities:- Coordination with the CSU and Operations team to identify activities that have a regulatory compliance component or the potential for an externally reportable release.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and operational permits (such as TCEQ Air and Water Permits; FERC; PHMSA; FAA, 49 CFR 193, USCG, etc.).
- Assist with the collection of data necessary for the various monitoring and reporting requirements.
- Execute inspections and documentation for the various permit and plan requirements such as SPCC, SWPPP, Waste Management, Method 9, and HAZCOM.
- Coordinating with Owner’s Regulatory Personnel.
- Conduct Audits and Investigations, including following up on Action Closure.
- Compliance Program Management - implement, and manage a regulatory compliance assurance program during CSU and Initial Operations.
- Audits and inspections - conduct internal inspections and audits of CSU, Operations and Maintenance activities.
- Support Owner during federal, state, and local regulatory audits and inspections.
- Risk Management - identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and risks and report them to management.
- Corrective Actions - lead the implementation of corrective actions identified from investigations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental sciences, field biology, or natural resources and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge andSkills:
- Relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically with LNG projects preferred.
- Experience working with third-party organizations and regulatory bodies.
- Regulatory Compliance Conditions and Requirements interpretation.
- Cross-functional and stakeholder communication.
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations.
- Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is often required.
