Overview

The Mechanical Commissioning Technician shall support the overall set of commissioning activities per the guidance of the supervisor in a safe and efficient manner. Candidate shall have a deep understanding of mechanical equipment (static and rotating equipment) and piping systems knowledge and overall experience of performing commissioning tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example while demonstrating a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by ensuring personal safety and, as far as reasonably practical, that of others through participating in regularly scheduled safety meetings, site safety visits and safety conversations.
  • Knowledge of LOTO procedures, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Work with construction and torquing contractor to identify flanges that will be broke loose for spool replacement or routine maintenance, bolts/gaskets changed, and torqued.
  • Coordinate with construction and the torquing company for the proper tagging process and filling out joint registers in Excel and other associated documents as needed.
  • Verify the torquing company is performing their scope of work by the flange management procedure.
  • Verify all documentation is filled out correctly.
  • Verify the tools that are being used are calibrated.
  • Complete the hands-on tasks relevant to the mechanical procedures on the project.
  • Witness and perform pump/motor alignment activities.
  • Support uncoupled motor runs (including vibration analysis).
  • Perform coupled pump runs (including vibration analysis).
  • Perform millwright/piping duties that pertain to pumps, vessels, motors, and valves.
  • Conduct/attend walk-downs prior to commissioning work.
  • Inspect installed mechanical equipment.
  • Follow system commissioning procedures that have been developed and approved.
  • Perform vibration checks, temperature checks, RPM, and rotational checks of equipment during pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Perform sub-system and system walkdowns for acceptance and submit any documentation to the Completions team for handover purposes.
  • Provide start-up support to the Operations team as required.
  • Execute preservation requirements as identified by the Preservation Coordinator.
  • Need proficiency in MS Office Applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commissioning experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledgeable in Flange Management and Joint Integrity processes.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of alignment equipment and other related mechanical testing equipment.
  • Relevant upstream oil and gas experience and technical certifications will be considered.
  • Candidate should be a motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving ability.
