VLS Waste Services provides customized waste processing solutions for hazardous and non‑hazardous industrial and commercial waste, including landfill diversion and sustainability programs, solidification of liquid waste, recycling, wastewater treatment, and waste sequestration.

VLS Railcar Cleaning and Repair Services division provides specialty cleaning services for difficult‑to‑clean products, including chemicals, hardened materials, and pressurized gases, and comprehensive repair services for certified full‑service repairs, tank car qualifications, and maintenance.

VLS Marine Services division offers state‑of‑the‑art barge cleaning, repair, and gas‑free facilities for various chemical solvents and downstream petroleum products.

Under direct supervision, assist in the quick repair of barges inside and/or outside. The Quick Repair Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical regulating and controlling devices, safety, and flow valves. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Basic math, reading comprehension and writing skills
• Work long hours doing repetitive motions in any weather
• Work occasional weekends or holidays
• Dependable
• Manages time effectively
• Must be mechanically inclined and familiar with hand tools and torque wrenches
• Must be willing to help out in other departments as needed
• Ability to work independently or as a team
• Must pass background check and drug screening
• Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights (15 feet off the ground)
• Prior experience with bubble leak tests
• Prior experience with valve removal or reassembly

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, work near moving mechanical parts; work at heights and confined spaces; may encounter fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation and vibration. Hot surfaces and sparks, intense light and the noise level in the work environment are usually very loud.
