Responsibilities
- Assemble and install equipment such as drive motors, conveyors, and pulley assemblies.
- Align machines and equipment for proper operation.
- Repair and lubricate material bulk handling machines and equipment to company/manufacturer specifications.
- Perform certified stick welding operations as needed.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment and make adjustments.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including cutting torch, welder, forklift, aerial lifts, hand tools, and power tools, and use electric test equipment on the work being performed.
- Participate in and promote safety and environmental programs.
- Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist coworkers and other departments on various jobs.
- Diagnose problems and maintain a variety of bulk handling equipment.
- Assist in the transportation and movement of mechanical equipment.
- Assemble machines, bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundations or other structures.
- Lubricate moving parts and operate repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- 1‑3 years’ experience required.
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and insurers; willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle.
- Completion of Safety training/certification required by customers and by Kinder Morgan.
- Background checks and Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) for foreign trade zones.
- Pass DISA testing for entrance into facilities.
- Pass respiratory fit testing.
- Heavy equipment operator’s certification for required equipment.
- Effective verbal communication.
- Ability to work scheduled hours and overtime with little notice when needed.
- Regular work attendance to perform essential duties.
- Willing and able to work as part of a team, follow supervisor direction, and meet required schedules.
- Ability to handle evolving conditions, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- No fear of heights.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, and reach for extended periods.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to problem‑solve and find resolutions.
- Willing to work as part of a team, follow supervisor direction, and meet required schedules.
- Ability to communicate over company‑provided mobile radio.
- Handle evolving conditions and identify safety concerns.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, and reach for extended periods.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, high precarious places, and risk of electrical shock.
- Work is performed outdoors; adverse weather conditions may apply.
- Carry company‑issued cellular telephone/radio and be on‑call for work as required.
