Job Summary
The Resident Assistant (RA) has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, creating and maintaining an atmosphere that fosters an environment that supports academic success, meaningful fun and educational programming opportunities, as well as valuable personal growth experiences. The Resident Assistant (RA) must reside in Seahawk Landing. This is a non-exempt position that reports to LSCPA's Student Services Department.
Duties/Responsibilities- Serve on an on-call rotation that requires you to be in the residence hall two (2) weekday nights per week and two (2) weekends per month
- Attend mandatory trainings and orientations at the beginning of each semester
- Attend mandatory monthly meetings with Dean of Student Services and Residence Life Coordinator
- Conduct weekly walk-throughs and attend called meetings with Residence Life Coordinator
- Work 20 hours per week at the front desk as scheduled by supervisor
- Communicate and enforce College policies and Residence Life regulations to students
- Document violations of College police and Residence Life regulations
- Report emergencies and life-threatening situations to appropriate authorities and College personnel
- Report conflicts, incidents, and Title IX incidents violations to appropriate College personnel
- Be accessible to students with regular staff/student contact and act as a referral agent when appropriate
- Develop and present programs to students as required by Resident Life Coordinator
- Conduct building/floor meetings as needed with the approval of supervisor
- Mediate student conflicts and arrange roommate living agreements when necessary
- Promote Seahawk Landing when opportunities arise.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
- At least 6 semester credit hours completed at LSCPA
- Have no other on-campus employment commitments
- Be enrolled at LSCPA during employment
- Good academic and student conduct standing
- Must reside in Seahawk Landing
- Must be able to fulfill one full year in the position before graduating/transferring
