Total Safety is looking for a DOT Driver to join their safety‑conscious team. The DOT Driver drives a commercial truck and a variety of trailers to pick up, haul and unload equipment and supplies to and from job sites and customer locations. The driver is cross‑trained in air work, gas detection, and rescue services and must comply with current DOT regulations.
EssentialDuties
- Refer to the safety and operations checklists for each trailer type and follow the checklist before each haul.
- Complete DOT and company‑required documentation.
- Provide timely delivery and pick‑up to and from designated customer locations.
- Inspect equipment for damage or excessive wear during pickup and note findings.
- Comply with current DOT regulations including timely qualification renewals, equipment and cargo security inspections, electronic logging device requirements, and other required transport documentation.
- Complete all documentation associated with delivery and pickup in a timely and accurate manner and obtain customer signatures for proper invoicing.
- Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
- Perform pre‑trip, post‑trip, and ad‑hoc inspections as required by FMCSR on all commercial motor vehicles and trailers.
- Perform weekly inspections on all non‑DOT assigned trucks and trailers to ensure that all required safety and preventative maintenance measures have been executed and documented.
- Assist others in the facility, including stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready‑to‑use equipment and pulling, staging, and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.
- Maintain the work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Service customers and/or company‑owned electronics and respiratory equipment.
- Assist others as needed and may need to perform emergency roadside repairs.
- At least 12 months of verifiable DOT driving experience within the last 3 years; a valid DOT medical examiner's certificate with a minimum of 3 months prior to expiration; insurable for Total Safety vehicle insurance while driving the company truck; and a satisfactory driving record meeting all FMCSR and company policy requirements.
- Minimum manufacturer field‑level training and certification in respiratory and instrumentation equipment.
- Valid driver's license from the state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance.
- Commercial driver's license (Class A, B, or
C) with HAZMAT endorsement. - Compliance with current DOT regulations.
- Completion of internal forklift training and certification.
Shop, yard, traffic, and customer environments; may be frequently exposed to wet, humid weather conditions and vibration. Work may involve handling chemicals and shop traffic; noise levels are usually moderate.
