Location: Port Charlotte Corps, Port Charlotte, Florida
Position Type: Regular Part-Time
Pay Range: $14.44 to $16.25/hour
Overview:
This position is responsible for performing routine cleaning, repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performing routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; and performing minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.
Responsibilities- Perform routine building maintenance activities; repair minor plumbing issues such as leaking faucets and clogged toilets; perform carpentry work to repair dents and holes in walls and paint walls.
- Perform preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitor and replenish all fluid levels.
- Maintain grounds, including mowing, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, sweeping sidewalks, and collecting debris; keep grounds beautified.
- Clean and maintain interior buildings including restrooms, kitchen, dining area, floors, windows, walls, furniture, fixtures, and trash/recycle bins.
- Maintain cleaning inventory and place orders for new products as needed.
- Keep the outside donation area organized.
- Assemble and move office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
- Drive a truck to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
- Monitor lighting and change light bulbs as needed.
- Maintain all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
- Monitor activities and visitors of the building and grounds to ensure security.
- Notify Supervisor of unsafe conditions.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Two years’ experience performing maintenance work in a general maintenance environment
- Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance, ability to perform routine repairs, use maintenance tools safely, and willingness to learn on the job. Must be able to perform heavy lifting, continuous physical tasks, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Applicants must meet attendance requirements and communicate effectively in English. Adherence to The Salvation Army's religious mission is required.
