Assisting store customers with donations and purchases, operating and maintaining a cash register, responding to customer questions, maintaining clean and orderly store displays, and safeguarding store merchandise and register funds.

• Processes sales using a cash register; collects payments, counts change, prepares receipts and packages purchases; balances the cash drawer, runs routine register reports, prepares bank deposits, and safeguards register funds and sales records.
• Prepares and maintains sales records, tax forms, social service vouchers, and routine sales reports; keeps the register area neat, secure, and adequately stocked.
• Explains store policies and responds to questions about pricing and purchases so customers have a pleasant store experience.
• Assists donors, directs them to loading and unloading areas, helps move donations when needed, and provides tax receipts.
• Arranges and rotates merchandise, returns handled items to their proper locations, answers the telephone, records donation pickups, cleans displays and store surfaces, and opens or closes the store as scheduled.

• Must meet attendance requirements; read, write, and communicate in English; operate a cash register; perform routine mathematical calculations and count change; and frequently walk, stand, kneel, or squat, with shorter periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
• Work is performed in a normal store environment with little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather.

• High School diploma or G.E.D. AND
• 1 year experience working in a retail store and six months working on a cash register OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
