About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Agricultural Technician to support their soil and water management initiatives in the Port Elizabeth area. This hybrid role involves both field work and office-based data analysis, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices. You will be instrumental in collecting soil and water samples, conducting laboratory tests, and assisting in the implementation of irrigation and conservation strategies.

The successful candidate will work closely with agronomists and farm managers to monitor environmental conditions and optimize resource use on farms throughout the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect soil and water samples from various agricultural sites for analysis.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests to assess soil fertility, pH, and water quality.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of irrigation schedules and water conservation projects.
  • Monitor crop health and environmental conditions, reporting findings to senior staff.
  • Operate and maintain field sampling equipment and laboratory instruments.
  • Help prepare technical reports and data summaries related to soil and water management.
Requirements
  • National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in agricultural fieldwork or laboratory analysis.
  • Knowledge of soil science, hydrology, and basic agronomy principles.
  • Proficiency in using field sampling equipment and laboratory testing procedures.
  • Good data recording and basic analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel to field sites and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
