Senior Geologist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist specializing in Exploration to join their team in Port Elizabeth . This critical role will involve identifying, evaluating, and defining new mineral resources, contributing directly to the company's growth strategy. You will be responsible for planning and executing exploration programs, analyzing geological data, and making informed recommendations for future drilling and resource definition.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of geological processes, excellent field skills, and the ability to manage projects from initial reconnaissance through to detailed exploration phases, working within a dynamic and challenging environment.

• Plan, design, and manage geological exploration programs, including field mapping, sampling, and drilling campaigns.
• Analyze geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to identify and interpret potential mineral targets.
• Conduct geological modeling and resource estimation using specialized software.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration strategies and project development.
• Collaborate with other geoscientists, engineers, and project managers to ensure efficient and effective exploration operations.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all exploration activities.

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a strong track record in identifying and defining new deposits.
• Proven expertise in structural geology, stratigraphy, and deposit modeling relevant to base metals or precious metals .
• Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine) and GIS applications.
• Excellent field exploration skills and experience in diverse geological terrains.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex geological concepts effectively.
