Precision Agriculture Technician

Our client is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Precision Agriculture Technician to join their team, primarily based in the Port Elizabeth region. This hands-on role involves the implementation, maintenance, and support of advanced agricultural technologies designed to optimize farm efficiency and resource use. You will work directly with farmers and agricultural managers, deploying and calibrating GPS systems, sensors, drones, and data management software.

Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that precision agriculture tools are used effectively to enhance crop monitoring, variable rate applications, and yield analysis, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and profitable farming operations.

• Install, calibrate, and maintain precision agriculture equipment, including GPS receivers, auto-steer systems, and variable rate applicators.
• Operate and manage agricultural drones for crop monitoring, spraying, and data acquisition.
• Collect, process, and analyze data from various precision agriculture sources (e.g., yield monitors, soil sensors, imagery).
• Provide on-farm technical support and training to farmers and operators on the use of precision agriculture technologies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment and software in the field.
• Assist in the development and implementation of precision farming strategies tailored to specific farm needs.

• Diploma or degree in Agricultural Technology, Agronomy, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience working with precision agriculture equipment and software.
• Strong understanding of GPS technology, GIS principles, and data analysis techniques.
• Proficiency in operating agricultural machinery and equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with farmers.
