Specialized Elevator Technician

Our client, a premier provider of vertical transportation solutions, is seeking a highly specialized Elevator Technician to serve the Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape region. This role demands advanced expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex elevator and escalator systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of these critical systems across commercial buildings, residential complexes, and public facilities.

This is a hands-on role that requires agility and problem-solving skills.

• Install new elevator and escalator systems according to manufacturer specifications and building codes.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing on various types of elevators and escalators.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions, including electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.
• Respond to emergency service calls promptly and efficiently.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including local and international elevator codes.
• Test installed equipment to ensure performance and safety standards are met.
• Maintain accurate service records and reports.
• Communicate effectively with building management and clients regarding service activities.

• Proven experience as an Elevator Technician or in a related field with a focus on vertical transportation systems.
• In-depth knowledge of elevator and escalator mechanics, electrical systems, and controls.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools specific to elevator repair.
• Ability to read and understand complex technical documentation and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to strict safety protocols.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage service schedules effectively.
• Relevant certifications or trade qualifications in electrical, mechanical, or elevator systems are highly advantageous.
• Must be located in or able to reliably commute to Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
