About Us:
Welcome to Advance Plumbing & Heating Supply Company, a fourth-generation family owned and operated business, started in 1920. The company's original location was at 2984 Grand River Ave. in Detroit, across from the Motor City Casino. On October 31st, 2016 we moved to our new location at 150 Parsons St. in Midtown Detroit. The new state‑of‑the‑art location features the City of Detroit's first ever Decorative Plumbing Showroom which opened in winter of 2018.
In 1990, with a solid reputation for excellence and an expanding market, Advance opened up a second location in Walled Lake, Michigan which features a state‑of‑the‑art 5,000-square foot decorative plumbing showroom and an outstanding plumbing & heating parts counter.
What You’ll Do:
We are looking for a friendly, informative, and welcoming Administrative Assistant to join our growing company. The Administrative Assistant assists with the day‑to‑day operations of the business office including clerical duties such as faxing and filing, answering the phone, planning and facilitating company events and other administrative duties as required.
Some Duties May Include:
- Answering phone calls and emails from customers and vendors and directing them to the relevant staff
- Directing walk‑in customers, vendors, and others to the appropriate individuals
- Sort and file posted and/or outstanding invoices
- Complete assorted filing and administrative tasks as needed
- Managing inventory of office and/or kitchen supplies
- Keeping conference room & kitchen clean, organized, and stocked
- Serving as an administrative support for other departments
- Performs other work‑related duties as required and assigned
- Basic customer and vendor communications
What You Need to Get the Job Done:
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate with customers, vendors and the public via phone and/or email
- Be capable of working in a fast‑paced environment, in a customer focused role, while having a high attention to detail and speed
- Prior experience handling a multi‑line phone system
- Basic computer experience such as Microsoft Office, Point‑of‑Sale and/or another internal database software

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Office 365.
