An employee in this classification is required to perform some or all of the following duties; however, these do not include all of the tasks the employee is expected to perform: develop a safety program and annual report; develop and implement SCCCMHA’s safety program to ensure the Agency operates in compliance with state and federal laws as well as the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Region 10 Pre-Paid Inpatient Health Plan (Region 10 PIHIP) contract requirements;

evaluate the safety program on an ongoing basis and update as necessary; collaborate with public safety personnel to support the safety program; prepare educational materials and provide safety trainings to personnel regarding the essential components of the safety program; ensure safety protocols and procedures are identified and displayed in public areas at every service site and program operated by SCCCMHA;

respond to reports of safety and emergency incidents, take action to ensure the safety of personnel, visitors, and individuals served, to include the use of de-escalation strategies, and complete administrative reviews to include recommendations for remedial action; ensure reporting is completed for all safety and emergency incidents involving personnel, visitors, and individuals served; monitor all service sites and programs on a consistent basis to ensure the safety of personnel, visitors, and individuals served;

collaborate with team members to prepare the SCCCMHA Residential Monitoring Report;
Collaborate with supervisors to address safety concerns; conduct safety inspections/audits of all service sites and programs operated by SCCCMHA;
Conduct safety inspections/audits of all properties owned by SCCCMHA;
Track E-Scores and track Fire Safety Assessments; assist the Agency with internal, external, and regulatory audits; maintain professional and technical knowledge by staying abreast of changes in regulatory requirements;
Attend educational workshops and/or trainings to stay informed about industry best practices and updates; act in the role of chairperson of the SCCCMHA Safety Committee;
Prepare the meeting schedule, materials, and reports for the SCCCMHA Safety Committee;
Attend and facilitate SCCCMHA Safety Committee meetings and complete follow-up activities; serve as a member of the SCCCMHA Quality Improvement Committee (QIC);
Complete QIC reports and attend committee meetings; serve as a member of the SCCCMHA Policy and Administrative Procedures Committee;
Review and revise policies and procedures, and attend Policy Committee meetings; maintain the confidentiality of all information related to individuals served, employees (direct and contract), integrity issues, audits, etc.; utilize Microsoft Office and Windows 11; comply with all SCCCMHA policies and administrative procedures, including the Alcohol & Drug Testing Policy ) and the Background Check Policy ) as well as supervisors/designee directives.

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position. This position receives supervision from the Chief Operating Officer.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Health Care, or a related field

Licensure

• Must possess or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within three months of hire
• Must possess or be willing to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification within three months of hire
• Valid driver’s license

Experience/Skills

• Two (2) years’ work experience in a safety position
• Two (2) years’ work experience with Microsoft Office
