Part‑Time Instructional Aide/Career Coach

Starting Date: Immediately.
Job Overview111‑day, non‑union, at‑will position. 3 days per week, totaling 22.5 instructional hours.
Work schedule:
8:00 am – 4:00 pm, approximately 111 instructional work days.
Responsible for supporting transition services for students with disabilities in both work‑based learning worksites (Meijer) and the classroom.
Required Qualifications- Post‑secondary degree preferred.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license; expected to obtain a chauffeur’s license. Periodic driving record checks may be conducted.
- Previous experience with individuals with disabilities.
- Experience in supporting instruction, work‑based learning, and transition services.
- Self‑managed with proven ability to achieve targeted goals.
- Flexible and adaptable to the needs of students and the program.
- Physical tolerance for daily duties, including travel within the community, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
- Ability to lift and assist wheelchair‑bound students.
- Experience with Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports; CPI preferred.
- CPR and First Aid training preferred.
- Regular, predictable attendance essential.
- Has received or is willing to receive COVID vaccination if positioned as a job coach at a medical site.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers and transition team to support program implementation, instructional activities, and work‑based learning opportunities for students.
- Build relationships with identified students through one‑on‑one and small‑group interactions in classroom and work‑based settings.
- Support students, monitor progress and behaviors in individual, small‑group, classroom, and job‑site settings.
- Utilize various assessment tools for knowledge and skill evaluation.
- Transport students to and from community‑based experiences and work‑based placements.
- Monitor employer adherence to work‑based agreements and risk management; communicate concerns to transition teacher and/or Work‑Based Learning Coordinator.
- Collaborate with students, parents, educators, agencies, and employers to support the transition program.
- Demonstrate creative and skillful collaboration with school staff, agencies, employers, and students.
- Utilize effective communication skills with students, co‑workers, and the public.
- Adhere to expectations and requests of the Next Step Supervisor, Transition Coordinator, classroom teacher, and Work‑Based Learning Coordinator.
- Support skills application within community and work‑based learning settings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Employment Date: pending school board approval and satisfactory completion of pre‑employment drug screen and background checks.

Work Schedule:
approximately 111 instructional work days; standard instructional hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Wage: starting at $17.20 per hour.
