Part-Time Instructors

Port Huron, MI

St. Clair County Community College is accepting resumes for part-time instructors (adjunct faculty). Morning, afternoon, evening, and online offerings may be available. If there is not a specific vacancy in your area of interest at this time, your information will be available to the Division Administrators for possible future consideration.

CLASSIFICATION:
Part-Time, on a semester basis

FLSA STATUS:
Exempt, Hourly

COMPENSATION: 2026/2027 of Academic Year Master's degree rate = $657 – $1,104 per contact hour

Contact hours range between 2 and 4, depending on the course offered.

Design and deliver instruction to students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching assignments may include Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, and Logic.
  • Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and/or online courses.
  • Teaching responsibilities include teaching, maintaining scheduled office hours, and advising students.
  • Participation in developing and improving academic courses.
  • Prepare and deliver academic instruction, including developing syllabi, developing content, and designing assessments.
  • Maintain and submit necessary class records, including early alert and final grade reports and attendance verification for financial aid compliance.
  • Participate in student grade appeal procedures.
  • Observe the college calendar.
  • Post and maintain office hours.
  • Participate in assessment of student learning according to the assessment plan.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree or master's degree with 18 credit hours in Philosophy or related field preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the higher education level preferred.
  • All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with students, staff, and community members
