Data Engineer
Brooksource's Data Practice is supporting an OEM's Battery Manufacturing plant in a pre-production facility targeting production launch in mid-2026. This greenfield data initiative will deliver real-time lineside dashboards and executive reporting capabilities ahead of the plant go-live date. The Mid-Level Data Engineer will be a core hands-on implementer on the team, working directly under the Senior Data Engineer to build, test, and validate the data pipelines that power both lineside operatordashboards and executive-level reporting.
Responsibilities- Implement and configure data pipelines connecting SAP MES (Manufacturing Execution System), SAP S/4 (labor and P&L), and PLC machine data feeds to the downstream reporting and dashboard layers
- Support system integration testing across the GCP primary cloud environment and Azure Power BI hosting environment, operating within separate tenant constraints and without access to Ford’s GDI infrastructure
- Execute data acquisition workflows and validate data fidelity from source systems through the Apache Doris real-time data warehouse layer
- Perform latency testing between GCP and the Marshall plant site under the guidance of the Senior Data Engineer to inform architecture decisions
- Support BI Engineers during dashboard development sprints by ensuring clean, reliable, well-documented data models and source layer availability
- Assist with documentation of data flows, integration points, and pipeline logic for handoff and long-term maintainability
- 3–5 years of experience in data engineering with hands-on pipeline development experience in production environments
- Working proficiency with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services (Big Query, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, or similar)
- Experience integrating with SAP systems (MES or S/4) or comparable enterprise ERP/MES data sources
- Familiarity with real-time or near-real-time data ingestion patterns and tools
- Understanding of cloud networking concepts relevant to latency testing and infrastructure validation
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, or equivalent data engineering languages and transformation frameworks
- Ability to work collaboratively within an agile/sprint-based delivery model
- Strong attention to detail in data validation, testing, and documentation
