Job Summary

As a Tax Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing financial information for our clients, such as business and individual tax returns, gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in various industries. You maintain client relationships and oversee internal staff, working closely with internal leaders to ensure high-quality work is delivered.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, including planning, preparation, and review of various tax returns (individual, corporate, partnership, etc.).
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing tax-related inquiries, providing recommendations, and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with partners and managers to ensure seamless client service delivery and alignment with overall firm objectives.
  • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to develop proactive tax planning strategies for clients, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
  • Assist in providing expert guidance on complex tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other business transactions.
  • Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing their questions or concerns.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, providing insights into financial situations and potential tax implications.
  • Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standards.
  • Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions.
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes, ensuring the firm and its clients remain compliant.
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster their professional growth and ensure quality of work.
  • Participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to continuous improvement of the firm's tax services.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in a professional service environment (e.g., CPA firm, financial consulting firm).
  • Actively working toward achieving CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure, or relevant certification.
  • Will be responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement.
  • Experience with tax research tools and software such as CCH Pro System FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research.
Physical Demands and Travel
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working in front of a computer screen for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs.
