Position Summary
Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.
JobSpecific Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster comfort and confidence in patients, ensuring individual needs are met.
- Operates and maintains all assigned imaging department equipment, including tomography scanner equipment.
- Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning them to correctly capture images requested by a physician.
- Properly identifies, prepares, and/or administers medications within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
- Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in paper and electronic formats.
- Maintains adequate supplies of all consumables needed for quality testing.
- Performs routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
- Assists other areas of radiology as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified as CT Technologist
- If not CT Certified, cross training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within 12 months.
- Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology
- Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Current BLS certification
- Associate degree in radiology

- Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
- Maintains commitment to professional growth and development.
- Sedentary Work: Lifting up to 10 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of small items; walking and standing occasionally required.
- Light Work: Lifting up to 20 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of objects up to 10 pounds; walking or standing required to a significant degree.
- Medium Work: Lifting up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
- Heavy Work: Lifting up to 100 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Very Heavy Work: Lifting objects over 100 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
