Regulatory Compliance Specialist, HRIS Specialist
Our client is a trusted utility and energy provider delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions to homes and businesses. The Benefits Specialist will administer benefits programs, including health and welfare, retirement, and pension, supporting employee well-being and compliance initiatives.
This is a full-time onsite position based in Port Huron, MI, paying $55.00 to $60.00per hour. This is a contract position.
Responsibilities- Presents benefit programs to leaders, HR teams, managers, and employees
- Manages, investigates, and responds to employee escalations regarding benefit issues
- Monitors and improves processes affecting benefit administration
- Validates benefit programs through reporting, cost analysis, and trend evaluation
- Facilitates open enrollment activities, including HRIS updates and communications
- Collaborates with HRIS and third-party providers for system updates and testing
- Acts as primary contact for internal and external partners on benefit oversight and compliance
- Ensures benefits programs are administered in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
- Reconciles and processes benefit invoices as needed
- Supports RFP processes and vendor/system changes
- Responds to inquiries on health and welfare, leaves of absence, PTO, EAP, and retirement programs
- Assists with audit responses and data requests
- Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, human resources, or related field
- 5+ Years in employee benefits administration, pension administration, or benefits accounting
- Benefits administration experience with self-insured plans preferred
- Experience managing complex benefits issues and contracts
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and reporting
- Familiarity with 5500 audits and nondiscrimination testing
- Workday and Adobe Writer experience preferred
- CBP/CEBS certification or coursework preferred
- Knowledge of benefit laws including ACA, ERISA, and Section 125
- Ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and prioritize tasks
- Analytical and problem-solving aptitude
- Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Office
365 applications
