Role Summary
Reporting to the shift supervisor, this position serves as an equipment change-over technician. While following SOPs and cGMPs, the set-up tech carries out product, size, and machine tooling changes to accommodate components. Adjusts machinery and equipment to ensure efficient operation and resolve problems during the product run. The incumbent participates in developing and monitoring procedures to improve line uptime and efficiencies.
The role includes preventive maintenance and minor repairs to packaging equipment, assists with packaging validations, component line trials, and special projects. The Set-up Tech may work closely with department engineers and line leads for line and/or equipment improvements and will be trained to perform all functions expected of a packaging specialist for each area and will be crewed to a line as required.
- Carry out product, size, and machine tooling changes to accommodate components following SOPs and cGMPs.
- Adjust machinery and equipment to ensure efficient operation and resolve problems during the product run.
- Develop and monitor procedures to improve line uptime and efficiencies.
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs to packaging equipment using manuals, job aids, or guidelines; ensure completion of line and/or department preventative maintenance as required.
- Assist with packaging validations (PVS/PQ/PKV), component line trials, and special projects.
- Collaborate with department engineers and line leads for line and/or equipment improvements.
- Be trained and capable of performing all functions expected of a packaging specialist for each area and be crewed to a line as required.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and ascend ladders and use tools as needed.
- Must be able to stand on concrete floors for extended periods of time.
- Protective equipment requirement: must be able to wear negative and/or positive pressure respirators daily for long periods of time.
- Medically cleared to wear respirators without restrictions.
- Must be clean shaven to seal the area of the tight-fitting respirator.
