Production Efficiency Technician is responsible for manufacturing operations by improving productivity, supporting material control, and increasing equipment and process efficiency. This role identifies production inefficiencies, reduces downtime and scrap, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall operational performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep purge compound in stock
  • Responsible for enhanced Utility and Die set training, crane and Grinders.
  • Maintain inventory levels of heater bands, nozzle tips, Die setter tools, wands, etc.
  • Reduce regrind generated, and monitor usage to keep levels to a minimum
  • Working with Engineering and Quality to sample various materials to optimize production capability and cost save initiatives
  • Contact vendor as needed to resolve material or concentrate issues.
  • Champion 6’s initiatives as it relates to Material handling – Spilt resins, floor sweeping, decking, equipment cleaning avoiding contamination.
  • Champion elimination of internal / external contaminated regrind to increase usage with no quality disruption.
  • Act as a Process Engineer if needed.
  • Publish weekly regrind and reprocessed inventory numbers.
  • Keeps spray orders in stock. Fill spray cabinet daily.
  • Publish weekly inventory numbers of reprocessed material to the Materials department to avoid material outages.
  • Have damaged tips resurfaced.
  • Track equipment repairs to ensure repairs are completed timely. Report out untimely issues.
  • Complete monthly material usage and calibration are validated on all mixing units. Report out issues.
  • Ensure all mix sheets are current all Processing books have the.
  • Support all product launch activities to optimize.
  • Hold weekly meetings with Utility and grinders ensure compliance of process and procedures. Report out to the manufacturing manager.
  • Add new programs to moister analyzer and repair when needed.
  • Disposition of materials placed in hold area within 24 hours, dispose if needed
  • Startup machines on Monday startup.
  • USAFE – complete weekly audits
  • Fill bolts and washer cribs on the west side Die setter area.
Production Efficiency Technician 2 nd Shift
  • Include the following;

  • Ensure Black River material storage is organized and segregated by material type
  • Audit material at the horseshoe and concentrate areas to ensure all materials are in the correct location by part number. Correct and report findings.
  • Daily audits of each press to ensure correct materials are used, Gaylord, Gravity bins hoppers, mixing units are correctly labeled and covered to avoid contamination.
  • Environmental responsibilities – Co-operation with action team directives. Familiar with evacuation plans, trained in clean up modules. Familiar with environmental plant postings.
  • Communicates all material handling issues to shift Supervisor for disciplinary action.
  • Validate mixing units are at the correct settings per setup sheet, audible and visual alarms are working and ground wires are attached to prevent static
  • Inspect mixing units to ensure correct setup hoses and air lines. Inspect hoses for wear and tear, replace as needed (No splices), Hose clamps on all connection points.
  • Complete daily runout log for any press downtime due to material runouts with corrective actions
  • Eliminate contamination - batch mixing units are thoroughly cleaned before use and the assigned batch mixer for the type of material is used.
  • Evaluate training needs or enhanced training for Utility.
  • ICEEP room is to remain clean at all times.
  • Champion 6’s initiatives in material handling
  • Ensure 100% of Gravity bins are being used and not stored.
  • USAFE – Perform no less than 1 audit per week.
  • Ensure mix sheets are updated and in Process book.
  • Ensure hand-off shifts and materials are available to avoid runouts
  • Ensure materials are pre-dried 6 hours prior to mold change.
