Overview
Union facility (IAM) - Heavy equipment manufacturing facility with casting and extrusion processes. 1.5x pay over 40 hours per week. 401K match plan and a full benefits package. Additional combined trade and lead rates are available after 90 days of employment. Off-Shift will be open to the choice of applicants – 8-hour afternoons, 8-hour nights, or 12-hour 7 pm to 7 am 4on/4off.
Responsibilities- Observe the functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair, and/or replacement of mechanical components.
- Repair and maintain mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment.
- Inspect and troubleshoot by visually inspecting and listening to machines, measuring parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems, and removing, replacing, and repairing worn or defective parts.
- Assemble and/or fabricate according to engineering instructions, manuals, and knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
- Troubleshoot fluid mechanics, including repair of pumps, valves, cylinders, compressors, and rebuilds per hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
- Dismantle machines and equipment and operate rigging equipment, man lifts, and mobile equipment.
- Layout, assemble, install, and maintain mechanical parts, hydraulic systems, and supports (e.g., air lines, PVC pipes, water lines); realign and adjust components.
- Inspect and locate damaged pneumatic and hydraulic pipes, components, and fittings to detect leaks; measure, cut, thread, bend, and install new parts.
- Install hydraulic and pneumatic water lines on new machinery; solder copper pipes.
- Set up and operate metalworking tools (hand threaders, machine threaders).
- Test operation following repair and read pressure gauges to detect abnormalities.
- Perform preventative maintenance such as inspections, filtering, measurements, and changing oil.
- Markup sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components.
- Weld metal components using various welding machines, including layout, fit, and tack joints; visually examine welds for adherence to specifications and re-weld defective joints.
- Grind welded surfaces for penetrant testing and remove surplus slag, flux, and spatter.
- Make safety shields and guards respecting OSHA guarding requirements.
- Maintain work area to acceptable housekeeping standards.
- Access tool room and stock room computer to find parts in stock.
- Provide training and guidance to Machine Repair Trainees.
- Assist production when needed.
- Meet quality and productivity standards; maintain Lean Manufacturing/5S principles.
- Maintain critical spare parts and recommend purchase of material and supplies.
- Discuss performance issues and improvement ideas with pertinent technical staff.
