Position: FIELD ENGINEER | DREDGING

Field Engineer

The ideal candidate for the Field Engineer position is someone with a minimum of 1+ years of experience as a (Dredge) Field or Survey Engineer combined with a Bachelor of Science in Construction or Engineering or a similar field of study. The Field Engineer must be able to fully support all day-to-day dredge operations in the field, prioritize task at hand, and be a strong communicator.

The Field Engineer must be able to execute and deliver the basic daily dredge reporting requirements efficiently and consistently while performing required task. The skills include task that fulfill the CQC obligations that most USACE contracts require. In addition, the FE must be familiarized with Dredge Pack and can build out a project for start-up. The FE should have the competence and confidence to lead mid-level meetings with the client.

The position will require ongoing training and 6-month assessments to ensure the integrity and progression of the training process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing work plans and schedules for dredging activities.
  • Support the design and layout of dredging areas using AutoCAD.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, pre-dredging surveys, and assessments to meet project requirements.
  • Field/marine dredge operations
  • Conduct hydrographic surveys to measure seabed levels and monitor dredging progress using Hypack.
  • Support dredging operations on-site to ensure tasks are performed safely and effectively.
  • Troubleshooting DQM and survey equipment, including calibration and maintenance.
  • Analyze survey and operational data to adjust dredging activities as needed.
What to Expect
  • The water is your office view. This is a marine/waterway-based position, and the client requires the Engineers to be on-site (dredge-based) throughout the duration of the shift.
  • 20 paid weeks off a year. The schedule is 17 days on followed by 11 days off. During your routinely scheduled 11 days off, you will receive your predetermined compensation. We are transparent; once we provide an offer of employment, your compensation will be explained in detail in the pre-offer letter.
  • Opportunity to travel. If you enjoy traveling and want to avoid the monotony of the day-in and day-out routine, this might be the ideal opportunity.
  • Communication and Support. We provide an environment where our team is supported. We routinely conduct open table discussions and brainstorming opportunities via MS Teams meetings. This engagement and communication are the cornerstones of overall success.
Essential Functions (This is not all-inclusive)
  • Engineering of hydraulic dredge production
  • Designing and planning dredge production guidance
  • Collecting and processing hydrographic surveys
  • Dredge Quality Control
  • Dredge Quality Management
  • Internal and external project reporting
  • Usage and maintenance of survey vessels
  • Familiarity with marine environment
  • Ability to accurately read contract drawings.
  • Ability to perform earthwork volume computations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Ability to read and comprehend project plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Trimble, and Hypack software
Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Construction or Engineering, or similar field of study
  • Ability to become CQM Certified and CQCSM Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers
  • 1+ years of Field Engineer experience
  • Must have reliable transportation, a car allowance is provided.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and formulate solutions; overcome obstacles to find solutions to problems; includes the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to write procedures, policies, reports, and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contractual requirements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures and policies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interact and form strong working relationships with individuals from all disciplines.
