Dow is seeking a Engineering Project Coordinator to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta!
In this position, you will be in charge of leading the engineering activities for both capital and expense projects throughout the Front-End Loading, Detailed Design, Construction, and Start-up stages. You will act as the lead for engineering teams on capital projects or take on the MES Project Lead responsibilities. You will manage intermediate to smaller large projects, with budgets ranging from $300K to $5MM.
This role demands strong expertise in your discipline while offering opportunities to broaden your knowledge and skills.
- Drive execution of projects while coaching the team on applying the Global Project Methodology (GPM).
- Lead planning and organization throughout design and construction.
- Create and manage staffing plans.
- Ensure coordination of all design engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
- Lead the project execution process, including developing contracting strategies.
- Assess and mitigate project risks.
- Monitor and update the project schedule and cost estimates, closely tracking progress.
- Ensure scope changes are effectively managed and project objectives for time, cost, and quality are met.
- Deliver as-built and operations/maintenance documentation to the facility after project completion.
- A Bachelors degree in Engineering is required.
- Must hold or be able to achieve APEGA (EIT/P. Eng) registration within one year of starting.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in project, engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Ability to safely work in a plant environment, perform tasks at heights, and use safety equipment such as harnesses (300lbs max capacity; accommodations available for up to 500lbs). Training on the use of equipment will be provided.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada; no visa sponsorship or support for permanent residency is available.
- Project Management Clearly define the project scope, track progress against milestones, and manage project risks, particularly during the construction phase.
- Team Management Collaborate with diverse teams, identifying issues and resolving conflicts using structured problem-solving methods.
- Organization and Prioritization Efficiently plan and prioritize work to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Stakeholder Management Identify key stakeholders, understand their influence, and develop a communication plan for effective engagement.
- Communication Enable seamless communication between project, construction, and plant operations teams to ensure a unified approach to execution.
