The Environmental Engineer role is an excellent opportunity to make an impact in a collaborative, team‑focused environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring site compliance across environmental media including air, water, and waste
, while supporting regulatory permitting, compliance programs, inspections, and EHSS initiatives. This position requires strong technical expertise, independent decision‑making ability, and the capability to represent the company with regulatory agencies and industry groups.
- Oversee the LDAR program in accordance with Federal OLD MACT and State regulations (TCEQ Reg V, LDEQ).
- Maintain and document compliance with fugitive emissions monitoring requirements, oversight of timely repair of leaking components.
- Oversight of site audits using a FLIR camera to identify and document potential emission sources.
- Prepare monthly air emissions calculations.
- Coordinate stack testing, as needed.
- Review and assess developments in fugitive monitoring regulations and support improvements in LDAR recordkeeping/reporting systems.
- Develop and submit annual/semi‑annual reports (Title V, OLD MACT, Emissions Inventory, TRI, Tier II).
- Secure necessary environmental permits for air programs (NSR, Title V).
- Review air‑related environmental regulations, provide analysis, and support compliance strategies.
- Assist with and/or oversee wastewater and stormwater permits.
- Supervise collection and analysis of routine and special water samples.
- Prepare and submit monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) to TCEQ, LDEQ, or EPA.
- Prepare and submit annual Water Use Survey to TCEQ and Surface Water Rights to the Texas Water Board.
- Management of SPCC and SWPPP programs, including 5-year updates.
- Oversee the site waste management program including waste characterization, disposal, shipment scheduling, and manifest tracking.
- Prepare annual solid waste reports, Pollution Prevention Plans, and support Notice of Registration (NOR) updates.
- Provide asbestos notifications to Texas Department of State Health Services.
- Provide oversight of RCRA activities and compliance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs, systems, and procedures aligned with company EHSS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct compliance assurance reviews of environmental policies and procedures.
- Provide oversight of the site fence line program, including routine reporting.
- Monitor new Federal and State environmental regulatory developments for applicability and site impact.
- Assist with development of compliance management systems, recordkeeping systems, and process improvements.
- Other duties, as needed.
- Host agency representatives during inspections, investigations, and regulatory visits.
- Represent the company in industry associations, agency meetings, hearings, and professional organizations.
- Prepare responses to information requests and enforcement actions.
- Participate in on‑call duty during evenings/weekends to answer technical questions and submit regulatory notifications during environmental events.
- Assist in investigations of environmental events and Title V deviations.
- Lead or assist in root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and conduct environmental training, awareness programs, and emergency preparedness activities for operations, contractors, and community stakeholders.
- Provide regulatory interpretation and expert technical advice to operations and leadership.
- Support Responsible Care (RCMS) audits and compliance activities.
- May serve as a technical lead and provide direction to less experienced environmental personnel.
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Environmental Engineering or related fields.
- Candidates located within a commutable distance.
- Experience in the chemical/petrochemical industry.
- Experience with waste management, EPRA/CERCLA, and DOT compliance.
Experience in Texas air permitting, LDAR, and OLD MACT regulatory programs.
