Lab Technician Job Port Neches area,Texas USA,Quality Assurance

Responsibilities

Perform a wide range of laboratory analytical tests, including process, finished product, and specialized sample analyses (e.g., water quality, contaminant identification). Maintain the integrity and reliability of results, and ensure consistent record‑keeping for repeatability and reproducibility.

Comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Conduct regular walk‑arounds to ensure good housekeeping, equipment compliance, and hazard recognition.
Maintain a contaminant‑free work area by cleaning surfaces, washing, sterilizing glassware, and distributing clean supplies.
Report safety and environmental issues and support the Safety Walk‑Around Committee.
Attend safety meetings and training sessions.
Monitor laboratory instrumentation, perform calibrations, run SQC samples, and ensure performance is within desired ranges.
Identify and troubleshoot instrument malfunctions, applying appropriate adjustments.
Perform required sample analyses, record results, and conduct special analyses as directed by supervision.
Review analyses for accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and notify operations of quality concerns.
Ensure products meet shipping and quality specifications and communicate results promptly.
Complete quality records and compliance documents accurately.
Assist in training and mentoring other lab technicians.
Handle maintenance tasks, issue work permits, and complete equipment check‑lists.
Participate in investigations or audits, including incident investigations, EH&S/quality audits, PHAs, and HAZOPs.
Document shift handovers and communicate area status and challenges to supervisors.
Work collaboratively with team members and follow instructions for any assigned duties.
Adhere to a 12‑hour rotating or 8‑hour day schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Ensure compliance with the integrated management system covering safety, GMP, quality, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science discipline.

At least 7 years of laboratory technician experience in petrochemical, refinery, or medical settings, or equivalent experience that can substitute for education.

Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Valid state driver’s license.

Corrective lenses when required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and email systems.

Strong oral, written, and computer communication skills; ability to use plant communication systems.

Physical ability to climb stairs, hear radio communications, and alert alarms.

Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
