Student Worker-Lab Monitor

The Anatomy Lab Monitor is responsible for supervising scheduled Open Anatomy Lab sessions and maintaining a safe, respectful, and organized learning environment. This position helps ensure the proper handling and accountability of anatomical specimens, supports laboratory operations, and promotes compliance with departmental safety policies.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Open, supervise, and secure the Anatomy Lab during scheduled Open Lab sessions.
  • Ensure only authorized students enter the laboratory and follow all laboratory policies and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a respectful learning environment that honors human donors.
  • Monitor, track, and properly store anatomical specimens using established chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Assist students in locating approved anatomical resources.
  • Report safety concerns, equipment issues, damaged or missing specimens, and other incidents to supervising faculty.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies by contacting faculty, Campus Security, or other designated personnel.
Qualifications
  • Current Palmer College student eligible for work-study.
  • Successful completion of Gross Anatomy I & II with a minimum grade of

    B.
  • Professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to complete required laboratory safety training.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in the Anatomy Laboratory with exposure to preserved human anatomical specimens and laboratory chemicals.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Position requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting laboratory materials during shifts.
