Starting Date: June 22, 2026

Employment is dependent on sufficient student enrollment. June 22, 2026 – July 16, 2026, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Summary

The Para educator – ESY Program is responsible for assisting specific students with meeting Behavioral, Academic, or Medical goals per the IEP; preparing instruction materials; conducting assessments; maintaining records; providing medical support and therapy sessions; operating assistive technology; collecting data; and assisting with IEP implementation for students with special needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administers first aid, medical assistance, physical support, and personal care for ill, medically fragile and/or disabled children.
  • Assists students, teachers, and other certificated personnel in implementing instruction and IEPs; develops students’ learning, daily living, physical, social, communication, and behavior skills and evaluates progress on IEP objectives.
  • Participates in meetings and trainings to share information and improve employee skills and knowledge.
  • Supervises students in the school setting to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Provides clerical and general classroom assistance for staff (e.g., collecting and inputting data, correspondence, copying, filing, preparing and organizing classroom materials) to document student progress and support classroom activities related to learning goals.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The job requires significant verbal communication, hearing, vision, kneeling, squatting, crawling, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent standing and walking, handling paperwork, reaching above shoulder, exposure to blood/bodily fluids, moderate to loud noise, minimal temperature variations. Education and Experience
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter credits at 100 Course Level and above); OR an Associate's or higher; OR passed Washington State Para Pro Assessment.
  • Job-related experience desired.
Required Testing
  • Successful completion of Safety-Care or PRO-Act de-escalation training.
Clearances
  • Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint background clearance.
