This is a 1.0 FTE continuing position.
This teaching position is in the Career and Technical Education Department (CTE) at South Kitsap High School. Candidates must be able to verify specific industry experience aligned with OSPI’s CTE certification requirements. They will facilitate project‑based learning experiences, coordinate cross‑disciplinary units, manage student expeditions, and foster strong partnerships with the community to enrich student learning through real‑world, inquiry‑based experiences, all while aligning with Expeditionary Learning philosophy and pedagogical practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Participate as department and school team members with responsibility for the education of assigned students.
- Modify instructional programs to meet individual student needs.
- Cooperate with other staff to plan, develop, and implement a course of instruction designed to achieve required academic learning standards in the Career and Technical curriculum areas.
- Cooperate with other staff to develop effective, positive techniques for improving student behavior.
- Provide positive assistance and guidance to a diverse population.
- Maintain student records, daily grades, essential learning data, cumulative records, orders, and inventory in a timely and orderly fashion. Report student progress to parents regularly.
- Provide instruction to students utilizing a variety of instructional strategies aimed at meeting individual student needs, and utilize appropriate and available resources, including technology.
- Participate in guidance discussions with students to provide appropriate programs for their educational level.
- Participate in Career and Technical Education program responsibilities.
- Participate in leadership of Career and Technical Student Organization.
- Participate in team and individual instructional planning, including writing daily lesson plans.
- Participate in staff meetings, planning events, and department/unit meetings.
- Participate in the total building program, including assemblies, contests, and other student activities.
- Work cooperatively with total building staff in an atmosphere of cooperation and collegiality.
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate; CTE VCodes:
University Route Certification – Agriculture Education V010000, and/or FACSE V200002, and STEM V141000, or CTE Plan 2 Business & Industry Route teacher certifications in or 6,000 hours of occupational experience in the following VCode Areas:
Careers in Education V200212, Career Choices V60009, Agriculture Mechanicians. Preferred English 4-12, History 4-12 & Social Studies 4-12. - Academic background in science instruction, outdoor education, project‑based learning, and English.
- Related experience in CTE curriculum design, coordination of staff and student training, staff supervision, staff development, and curriculum instruction.
