Bethel Schools Program Specialist

Position Summary:

The Bethel Schools Program Specialist works under general direction of P-12 partnerships performing a variety of duties to support equitable access to Pierce College services, coursework, and degree pathways. The position performs general program support functions for the Pierce College at Bethel High School site, serving as the point of contact for students, faculty, and Bethel High School staff during program hours as well as providing direct student support for enrollment and navigation of financial aid, advising, academic, and other Pierce College resources.

This role supports smooth operation of the evening instruction program by performing site management tasks including greeting students and monitoring Pierce College student activity (enforcing Pierce College and BHS safety guidelines); helping students with way finding; opening and closing classrooms; setting up and putting away signage; assisting students with accessing college/program support, services, and resources; assisting faculty with classroom technology; administering informal student surveys;

data collection and entry; report preparation and/or presentations; and collaborating with Mar Com to generate promotional material and assist with outreach, webpage, and social media tasks. This position works independently and requires consistent and regular attendance.

Essential Functions

Prospect, Applicant, and Current Student Support

• Position is responsible for site operations at the Pierce College Bethel High School location.
• Communicate admission policies and processes to prospective students, staff and community members; serve as a point of contact for applicants, responding to questions, gathering information, and making referrals as needed.
• Provide holistic and culturally sustainable support services to new, continuing, and returning students to ensure a sense of belonging for all students from applicant, to enrolled through completion of educational goals.
• Engage with new students to support their intake journey, provide encouragement and assistance with tools that help them prepare for the initial academic advising session; support students in completion of online Student Success Orientation, including Guided Self Placement and the Welcome and Support Survey.

Supervision of Site/Program Space

• Open and close program area/classrooms; set up/break down of signage; unlock and supervise entrance designated for Pierce College student traffic; assist faculty with classroom keys, instructional computers, classroom set-up, and troubleshooting technology; ensure compliance with safety guidelines; serve as point of contact for faculty, academic support staff, students, and BHS staff.
• Greet students and assist with way finding; assist in staffing Pierce College student resource area; organize and lend study supplies; assist students with use of computers, printers, and student support area; record students' needs/usage of equipment; connect students to campus and online resources.

Record Keeping/Preparing Reports

• Track student activity; use data to inform planning for future class offerings assist with informal surveying of students; compile survey data (data entry); assist with preparing program material/reports and promotional materials.
• Investigate community data sources related to workforce needs, ALICE populations, etc. to assist in informing site priorities.

Required

Education:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 15+ quarter credits or 10+ semester credits in Education, Social Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related fields OR equivalent professional experience in Education, Social Services, Public Administration, Business Management, or related fields. For a Bachelor's degree, the equivalent amount of professional experience is 4 years.

Required Experience:

• 2 years of experience working in an educational environment providing direct student support OR 2 years of experience in an agency or school setting managing a client caseload.
