purpose statement:
the job of para educator - multi-tiered system of supports (mtss) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to a variety of students, staff, and building teams to assist with student behavior support and implementation of behavior interventions. This position works directly with students and other staff in a school setting providing classroom-based modeling, coaching, and student-specific interventions; provides support for restorative student group work.
This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: supporting students by integrating data and instruction to maximize student achievement and support students social, emotional, and behavior needs from a strengths-based perspective.
essential functions:
- adapts classroom instruction, under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing support and/or reinforce classroom objectives;
- assists students for the purpose of achieving academic goals and personal excellence;
- attends various meetings and trainings for the purpose of supporting students;
- communicates effectively (e.g. Possess awareness (for self and others), listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, possess a growth mindset, and be customer service oriented, etc.) for the purpose of providing an educational and supportive environment;
