Summary: Graduation Coach/Specialist position for Secondary Schools provides comprehensive mentoring, outreach and supportive services to students which will include implementing activities to improve the number of participating students who obtain a high school diploma, assisting with completing applications for students enrolling in a program of postsecondary education, or helping students secure training while in high school that will lead to career readiness.

This position is also responsible for encouraging student enrollment in rigorous and challenging curricula and coursework to reduce the need for remedial coursework at the post-secondary level; providing information regarding financial aid, employment assistance and certifications to participating students.

This position is contingent upon grant funding each school year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains records and data to prepare frequent reports to building leadership, students and/or families.
  • Works with Grant Specialist to procure office supplies, equipment, and other supports for students and staff.
  • Uses and analyzes cohort data (achievement, attendance, behavior, credit accrual) to identify high school students with a ahigh probability of not graduating with cohort.
  • Collaborates with a caseload of students, parents(s) guardian(s), teachers, counselors, and community partners to develop a graduation and achievement plan that includes the best program to meet academic and post-secondary goals.
  • Develops and implements individual, small group and whole school preventative/intervention strategies to increase the likelihood that students will persist in school and graduate.
  • Communicates regularly with stakeholders to discuss academic progress, obstacles and needed efforts that will include pace to face contact, phone, e-mail, text messages, newsletters, and other communication opportunities, as needed.
  • Use various electronic tools and resources to ensure consistent support and to make work more efficient.
  • Develops partnerships with business and community organizations to support the goals of district high school graduation initiatives.
  • Coordinates tutoring services for students that are below grade standards academically.
  • Communicates with parents and family members to share community resources and school resources.
  • Maintains records for the purpose of providing confidential and accurate information and to support audit requirements.
  • Assists the administrator in annual grant/LAP applications reports and processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
