Kitsap County is seeking a detail-driven and service-oriented Fiscal Support Specialist to support the critical operations of the Treasurer’s Office. Responsibilities- Process and manage complex financial transactions
, including property tax payments, refunds, deposits, and Real Estate Excise Tax, ensuring accuracy and compliance with RCW and WAC requirements. - Perform advanced fiscal and numeric work using accepted bookkeeping and basic accounting methods, including balancing, reconciling, and disbursing funds.
- Calculate, verify, and audit financial data related to payroll, taxes, personal and real property values, accounts payable/receivable, and real estate tax assessments and payments.
- Review and approve financial documents such as tax records, legal documents, payment receipts, deposits, and real estate transaction documentation for regulatory and procedural compliance.
- Interpret and apply state laws and administrative codes (RCW and WAC) related to Treasurer’s Office functions, including property taxation and real estate tax transactions.
- Provide specialized technical guidance and customer service by responding to inquiries from the public, title companies, real estate professionals, and internal staff regarding tax payments, real estate transactions, and fiscal procedures.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research to support determinations of compliance for financial and real estate-related transactions.
- Utilize spreadsheets and financial systems to track, analyze, and report fiscal and real estate tax information.
- Maintain official records in accordance with established retention schedules; prepare documents for archival or destruction.
- Draft, proofread, and process correspondence and documentation
, including financial records, notices, and transaction-related materials. - Support office operations by maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and performing other duties as assigned.
- Professional
Experience:
Three years of experience in a fiscal-related position, which includes cashiering, payment processing, or handling money transactions. - Education: Related education demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job may substitute for up to one year of required experience

Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment. Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism under pressure. - Additional
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience reading and interpreting RCW and Washington Administrative Codes.
- Experience processing Real Estate Excise and/or property tax payments.
- Experience working in a public sector or government finance environment.
