Role OverviewSummer Counselors provide direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp program. You will provide a high-quality experience for children and parents, grounded in the YMCA's core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

- Discounts on YMCA Programs (Immediate Family)
- 50% discount for staff working 20 or more hours per pay period
- 25% discount for staff working 10–19 hours per pay period
- 15% discount for staff working fewer than 10 hours per pay period
- Supervise and interact with counselors and their group of children
- Implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
- Adhere to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards
- Attend staff meetings and trainings
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies
- Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff
- Model relationship‑building skills in all interactions
- Accept and demonstrate the Y’s core values and have a desire to fulfill community needs
- Provide a high‑quality experience to children and parents by planning and implementing program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with the Y’s core values
- Improvise quickly and appropriately in unexpected circumstances to better meet members’ needs
- Generate and implement new ideas and approaches to improve member experiences by seeking out and incorporating diverse points of view
- Maintain positive relationships with other staff and participants through seeking to understand the other’s point of view, building credibility, and remaining calm in challenging situations
