The Construction Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Port St. Lucie, FL, responsible for overseeing daily residential construction activities from pre-construction through completion. This role supervises trade partners and vendors, coordinates schedules, and ensures homes are built according to plans, quality standards, and building codes. The Construction Superintendent monitors site safety, conducts regular inspections, and promptly addresses issues to keep projects on time and within budget.
Day-to-day tasks include managing materials and deliveries, maintaining job site documentation, communicating progress and challenges to project managers, and collaborating with sales and customer service teams to support a positive homeowner experience. The role also involves problem-solving in the field and maintaining a clean, organized, and professional job site that reflects Akel Homes' brand and standards.
- Strong construction site management skills, including coordinating trades, overseeing daily operations, and maintaining quality standards.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations, with the ability to enforce a safe working environment for all team members.
- Solid organization skills to manage schedules, materials, documentation, and multiple homes under construction simultaneously.
- Budgeting and project management abilities, including tracking costs, controlling expenses, and meeting project timelines.
- Experience in residential construction, preferably with production or semi-custom homebuilders.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and building codes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with trade partners, internal teams, inspectors, and homeowners.
- Proficiency with construction management software, basic computer tools, and mobile applications used for field reporting.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or a degree in construction management or related field is beneficial.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site in varying weather conditions.
