Extended Care Assistant

The Extended Care Assistant helps provide a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for students participating in the school's after-school care program. This role involves supervising students, organizing age-appropriate activities, assisting with snacks, and ensuring students are cared for in a manner consistent with the school's Christian mission.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during after school care hours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Organize and lead recreational and quiet-time activities for students.
• Assist with check-in and check-out procedures for students and parents.
• Provide snacks and ensure proper hygiene (e.g., handwashing).
• Maintain discipline and structure using positive behavior management techniques.
• Build relationships with students and families while modeling Christian values.
• Clean and organize activity areas, toys, and supplies.
• Report any incidents, concerns, or injuries to the Extended Care Coordinator or school administration.
• Uphold all school policies and procedures, including child safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Commitment to Sunlight Christian Academy's mission and Christian values.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; experience working with children preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to supervise and engage students in a positive, Christ-like manner.
