La Amistad Behavioral Health Services is set in quiet, residential areas in Maitland and Winter Park, Florida, minutes away from Orlando. We treat individuals ranging from young adolescents to adults. Treatment programs for psychiatric issues, chemical dependency issues, and dual diagnosis for those struggling with both. The therapeutic environment at La Amistad is serene and homelike, and the semitropical climate of Central Florida allows for year-round activities.

The greatest asset at our mental health facility is our staff, comprising highly qualified psychiatrists, psychologists, professional nurses, social workers, therapists, and Mental Health Technicians who work as a team to uphold La Amistad's reputation for excellence in helping patients resolve behavioral health issues.

REGISTERED NURSE (R.N.) — Full-time, Overnight (3-12 hour-shifts)

The Nurse is in charge of unit activities for each shift and supervises the Milieu Coordinators, and Mental Health Technicians. This position administers prescribed medications and provides medication and other educational groups on the shift.

• Completes and documents comprehensive nursing assessment within 8 hours of patients' admission.
• Identifies patient's needs, problems, capabilities, and limitations that are supported by the recorded assessment data and reflects knowledge of the arts and sciences with particular emphasis on biophysical and psychosocial sciences.
• Interacts therapeutically with residents.
• Acts as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team in planning care by providing input to the treatment team process. Plans continuity of patient care with other members of the healthcare team.
• Utilizes psychotherapeutic interventions to assist patients in regaining or improving their previous coping abilities and to prevent further disability.
• Understands basics of Common Psychiatric Diagnoses. Can recognize behaviors associated with Common Psychiatric Diagnoses. Evaluates and demonstrates for age‑specific behaviors, motor skills and psychological norms.
• Demonstrates Service Excellence w/Internal & External Customers.

Education
:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

Years of experience
:
Prefer one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse. Prefer six (6) months in psychiatric nursing.

License/Certification
:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. Current CPR Certification required.

Skills
:
Demonstrate leadership, communication, teaching, and management skills. Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, correct administration of medications.

Physical Requirements
:
Work is physically and mentally demanding. Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds.
