Job OverviewWe are seeking a compassionate and skilled Staff Nurse to join our dedicated team in a residential mental health setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in nursing practice with a specific interest or background in mental health care. As a Staff Nurse, you will play a critical role in supporting residents with complex mental health needs by delivering holistic, person-centered care in a safe, therapeutic environment.
You will ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, uphold residents’ dignity, and contribute to their overall well-being.
- Perform comprehensive mental and physical health assessments to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and psychiatric treatments in accordance with clinical protocols and physician directives.
- Monitor residents’ mental health status, identify changes in behavior or condition, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and direct support staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Support residents in developing life skills and coping strategies through education and encouragement.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation aligned with HIPAA and ICD-10 standards.
- Respond to mental health crises and participate in de‑escalation efforts, using trauma‑informed approaches.
- Advocate for residents’ rights, preferences, and needs, with a strong emphasis on dignity, respect, and recovery.
- Participate in staff training, safety drills, and quality improvement initiatives within the facility.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
- Prior experience in mental health, behavioral health, or residential care settings is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with supporting individuals with or co‑occurring disorders is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of medical documentation, ICD‑10 coding, and safety protocols.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
