Electrician Journeyman- Facilities Maintenance Department

The starting salary range for this position is $27.09 - $31.15, depending on qualifications.

Skilled work at the journeyman level involving both rough and finished electrical work, troubleshooting electrical motor failures and electric circuitry preventative maintenance. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

Positions within the Facilities Maintenance Department require unescorted access to secure areas of the Police Department. As such, candidates must successfully pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) FCIC/NCIC background check.

FDLE clearance is mandatory for employment in this role. Applicants who do not meet the criteria for access will not be eligible for hire.

This position is considered an  Essential Position  for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Port St Lucie emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager or City Officials.

• Installs, repairs and maintains electrical services in City-owned buildings. Examples of equipment maintained included, but not limited to - electrical outlets, lights, motors, relays, alternators, electrical equipment, starters, breakers, VFD’s, transformers, etc.
• Regular and punctual attendance.
• Assists in maintenance operations.
• Operates vehicles, tools and equipment as duties require.
• May assist in the calibration and process control equipment utilizing various types of test equipment.
• May assist Instrumentation Technicians in troubleshooting and repairing PLC’s, HMI, and BF Modems.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required. Graduation from an accepted trade school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in electrical construction, installation, repairs, and maintenance at the Journeyman level required.

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. If you currently hold an out-of-state license, you must obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of your hire date.
• Possession of a Journeyman’s Level Electrician License required.

• Knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools, codes and practice of the electrical trade, as well as electric circuitry involving motors, breakers, relays, etc.
• Tool Proficiency:
  Skill in the use of various tools, techniques and equipment in the electrical trade.
• The ability to identify and solve electrical problems effectively.
