Jefferson County Auditor’s Office is seeking an Accounting Technician - Accounts Payable. The Accounting Technician coordinates financial management of accounting activities. This role provides technical leadership and training to financial staff, and conducts the final audit of vouchers, employee reimbursement payments, and payment for goods and services purchased by the County and other jurisdictions including Junior Taxing Districts within the County.
The Accounting Technician monitors budget lines, contract compliance, sales/use tax collection with monthly and quarterly submission to the Department of Revenue. Audits bank reconciliations for all County bank accounts and processes monthly journal entries for current year refund of expenditures. Please see attached job description for additional information.
Minimum Qualifications: Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are listed on the job description attached, and are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and Experience- Associates degree (AA) in accounting or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years related accounting or bookkeeping experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six (6) years related accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Governmental accounting experience preferred.
Hours & Compensation: This position is 40 hours per week and a Grade 29 UFCW position. Pay range is $30.65 - $37.69/hour. Starting pay is typically $30.65, depending on experience. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Paid Time Off (PTO), 11 paid holidays, and bereavement leave.
