    Remain calm and effective under pressure and stress.

  • Valid First Aid/CPR card preferred.

  • Good attendance is essential.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Supervision of students at lunch, at recess and in small group settings. Duties may include but are not limited to lunch room supervision, playground supervision, bus duty, hall duty, crossing guard duty, assemblies, or assisting individual students in meeting behavioral expectations.
  • Arrive on time to your duty area and work collaboratively with other staff members who are also on duty.
  • Develop a positive relationship with students, talk with and engage students in good behavior, and act as a role model. Circulate, observe and redirect students as necessary.
  • Assist students as needed and report any concerns to the building principal.
  • Maintain school public areas clean and tidy.
  • Remain in the area being supervised until all students are accounted for and/or have been dismissed. Continue to assist with supervision as students move.
  • Assist office staff with clerical duties when student supervision is not needed.
  • Assist teachers in the classroom with students and instruction.
  • Perform other student assistance duties as assigned, including those that fall into the general/instructional para educator category.
FUNDAMENTAL COURSE OF STUDY

Paraeducators are required to attend 28 hours of Fundamental Course of Study training. Pre‑approved training hours that occur outside of contracted/paid hours will be compensated on a timesheet.

SALARY RANGE

$23.66 – $29.39 per hour, depending on experience and in accordance with the SEIU negotiated bargaining agreement.

NOTE

New employees who will have unsupervised access to children must complete a satisfactory fingerprint check with the Washington State Patrol and the FBI. Employment will be considered temporary and conditional pending a satisfactory background check. A $50.00 processing fee applies.
