Job DescriptionApplicants must meet the “Every Student Succeeds Act” highly qualified requirement through two years of college, or an Associate’s degree or higher; or have passed the Para Pro Assessment Test. This position is subject to the SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Punctual and reliable in completing tasks and maintaining schedule. - Valid First Aid/CPR card preferred.

- Good attendance essential.
- Supervise students at lunch, recess, and in small group settings; duties include lunch room supervision, playground supervision, bus duty, hall duty, crossing guard duty, assemblies, or assisting students in meeting behavioral expectations.
- Arrive on time to the duty area and work collaboratively with other staff on duty.
- Develop a positive relationship with students; talk with and engage them in good behavior, serve as a role model, circulate, observe and redirect as necessary.
- Assist students as needed and report concerns to the building principal.
- Assist in keeping school public areas clean and tidy.
- Remain in supervised areas until all students are accounted for and/or dismissed, continuing to assist with supervision as they move.
- Assist office staff with clerical duties when student supervision is not needed.
- Assist teachers in the classroom with students and instruction.
- Perform other student assistance duties as assigned, including those that fall into the general/instructional para educator category.
Paraeducators are required to attend 28 hours of Fundamental Course of Study training per Washington State. Pre‑approved training outside of contracted hours will be compensated.
Salary$23.66 – $29.39 per hour, based on district pay scale and equivalent experience, in line with the SEIU negotiated bargaining agreement.
