Job Details

Job Title: Room Attendant (Tides Inn and Suites – Port Townsend, WA 98368)

Shift: Varies with facility needs; some full‑time and part‑time positions.

Breaks: Two breaks and one ½ hour lunch.

Overtime: Seldom.

Machine Usage: Household‑type vacuum cleaner.

Tools: Mops, brooms, extendable wands, cleaning items.

Assistive Device: Cleaning supply pushcart.

Uniforms: Employee uniforms.

Room Attendant Responsibilities

The Room Attendant’s primary responsibility is to clean areas where guests have spent or will spend time during their stay. Duties include counting and transporting linens, replenishing supplies, dusting, polishing, washing, vacuumming, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, replacing light bulbs, transporting trash, and other tasks as directed by the manager or supervisor.

  • Sort, count, fold, and transport linens to various site locations.
  • Make beds in guest rooms.
  • Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, writing materials, and bathroom supplies.
  • Clean rooms, kitchens, lobbies, lounges, bathrooms, landings, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Dust furniture and equipment.
  • Polish metalwork.
  • Wash windows, walls, door panels, sills, ceilings, and woodwork.
  • Empty waste baskets.
  • Clean ashtrays.
  • Transport trash to the waste disposal area.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
  • Other duties may be required as directed by the manager or supervisor.

    Qualifications
    • Previous hotel housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
    • Ability to work as a team.
    • Good communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to pull and push work‑related equipment, such as a loaded housekeeping cart, over uneven and sloping surfaces.
    • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and pull.
    • Ability to sit, stand, walk, or kneel for a long period of time.
    • Ability to manipulate, turn, and grasp objects of different sizes and weights.
    • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
    • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and manage time efficiently.
