Fully onsite – Port Washington, Wisconsin
Salary: $155,000 – $180,000 base + bonus
Must Haves- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership within a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and core accounting operations
- Experience managing budgeting support, variance analysis, and cash / working capital visibility
- Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP/accounting systems experience
- Ability to operate as a hands‑on accounting leader in an onsite environment
- CPA preferred
- Experience in a PE‑backed or fast‑paced middle‑market environment
- Exposure to standard cost accounting / inventory accounting
- Percentage‑of‑completion accounting exposure is a plus, but not required
- Experience helping build process, reporting cadence, and team structure
Our client is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead the accounting function for its Port Washington, WI headquarters. This is a full‑time, fully onsite opportunity reporting directly to the CFO.
The Controller will oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, financial reporting, month‑end close, internal controls, and compliance, while serving as a key business partner to leadership. This person will be expected to keep the function running smoothly today while helping scale process, discipline, and team capability over time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly and annual financial statements
- Oversee the general ledger, month‑end close, and account reconciliations
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies/procedures
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insight and improve business performance
- Supervise and develop accounting staff as the team evolves
- Drive process improvement across accounting systems, reporting, and close procedures
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable requirements
This role is best suited for someone with a strong manufacturing accounting foundation who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and building alongside the business. Experience with project‑based or percentage‑of‑completion accounting is helpful, but manufacturing experience is the bigger priority.
