Electrical Engineer (Port Washington WI)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and support the electrical and control systems used in industrial mixing equipment. In this role, you ensure machine reliability, safety, and performance from initial concept through commissioning and ongoing support. You collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and service teams and contribute to clear, accurate documentation such as operation manuals and service instructions.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and support PLC and HMI systems for industrial mixers and related equipment.
• Develop machine control architectures that include PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servos, sensors, and safety devices.
• Write and maintain structured, well-documented control code and standards for industrial control systems.
• Integrate safety systems in compliance with NFPA, UL, and OSHA requirements.
• Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for control panels and related equipment.
• Specify electrical components and generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs).
• Support control panel build, wiring, and verification activities to ensure quality and compliance.
• Review electrical designs for compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and on-site commissioning of industrial mixing equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues during startup and after installation to ensure reliable operation.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, service teams, and customers on electrical and control system topics.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on PLC programming, VFDs, and HMIs.
• Hands-on experience with PLC platforms, including programming, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in HMI development, including screen design, configuration, and integration with PLCs.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including 480V power distribution, VFDs, motors, and sensors.
• Ability to read, interpret, and produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with control systems for industrial machinery and process equipment.
• Ability to perform FAT testing and support commissioning activities.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and control system issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools for creating electrical schematics and panel layouts.
• Familiarity with servos, sensors, and industrial control devices used in automated equipment.
• Knowledge of NFPA, UL, and OSHA requirements related to electrical and machine safety.
• Experience specifying electrical components and creating bills of materials (BOMs).
• Ability to create and maintain clear documentation such as operation manuals and service instructions.
• Experience in supporting manufacturing and service teams with technical guidance on electrical systems.
• Experience in commissioning and post-installation support for industrial equipment.

Work Environment

This position is based fully on-site in an industrial manufacturing environment focused on the design, build, and support of industrial mixing equipment. You work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams and spend time both in an office setting for design and documentation tasks and in the shop or production area for panel build support, testing, FAT, and commissioning activities. The role involves working with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, sensors, and other industrial control hardware in a hands-on environment that emphasizes safety, collaboration, and high-quality equipment performance.

Compensation is structured to be highly competitive and above typical market ranges.

This is a Permanent position based out of Port Washington, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $67.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
