Safety Engineer Pay Rate$106,700 – $130,500
Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is placed in the pay range.
LocationGlobal Cellulose Fibers – Port Wentworth Mill
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and support for the Safety and Occupational Health programs at the Port Wentworth Mill
- Report to the Health and Safety Manager to develop, implement, support and administer site safety programs and ensure the mill complies with all applicable health and safety corporate initiatives, laws and regulations to achieve an injury‑free workplace
- Ensure the mill’s compliance with OSHA requirements and GCF’s health and safety program requirements
- Serve as the lead for specific training programs to implement and sustain requirements and training
- Integrate continuous improvements in safety systems and help drive employee engagement to achieve desired results
- Collaborate with mill employees to identify and implement improvements driving overall reduction in hazards through the use of programs such as Safe Work Observations (SWOs), Hazard Reduction and Crew Top 5s
- Provide support to help develop and implement health and safety training programs
- Coordinate health and safety audit programs including corrective action plan implementation – both internal and external
- Work with departments on communications that promote safety performance and ensure compliance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Preferred experience in EHS Health & Safety, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred B.S. in safety engineering or industrial hygiene
- Knowledge of EHS compliance and regulatory requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; presentation and delivery skills
- Demonstrated skill in organizing and prioritizing to manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to accomplish EHS requirements and objectives
