Interim Controller

Location: Onsite| Portage, Indiana

We are seeking an Interim Controller to oversee the organization's accounting operations and provide leadership during a transitional period. This individual will be responsible for managing the month‑end close process, financial reporting, general ledger oversight, internal controls, and supervising the accounting function while ensuring accurate and timely financial information.

• Lead the month‑end and year‑end close process.
• Review and prepare monthly financial statements and supporting reports.
• Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Supervise day‑to‑day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Support process improvements and special accounting projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Previous Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month‑end close, budgeting, internal controls, and GAAP.
• Experience supervising accounting teams.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP/accounting system experience.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
